Learning to see

These 1-3 minute of my best sketches were done in October of 98, when I first attempted to draw the figure with a live model. Today I was looking at an old notepad that had these drawings, and I remember the day I drew them, and how my ability to depict the figure has developed over the years. The skill to draw the figure depends on the ability to understand shapes and form in perspective. It's about training your eyes to see that we are composed of geometric shapes. These bottom ones are 1-3 minute drawings done this year. I still say the figure is one tough cookie to draw!

Thanks again, those were the first atempts at drawing the figure, I been taking classes off an on now. practice, practice, practice. I understand you're an animator in India?

yes, big difference, as a beginner I did not have a clue about drawing the figure, not knowing where to start, or how! ah! I'm brave enough to post my old crappy drawings. :)

Yes.I'm an animator in India...

Loads of outsourcing work is done in India, even movies like Terminator, Chronicles of Narnia n other animation has been done here. Parts of the movies are sent in to be done here....

you have a real tight blog...keep it up!

wow....amazing progress. Very good line, and movement of figures is so fluid... I'm impressed!!!

And...I think the same as zombie...most of times I am scared too, about seeing my own old stuff...above all that one you liked when you did it, hehehe.
